Users should exercise caution when opening XWD files from untrusted sources and avoid visiting untrusted web pages that could deliver malicious XWD files. Monitor vendor advisories for updates and apply patches once available.
Description
A high-severity integer overflow vulnerability exists in GIMP's parsing of XWD image files. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into opening a malicious file or visiting a malicious page. The vulnerability arises from improper validation of user-supplied data leading to an integer overflow before buffer allocation.
