Upgrade GitLab CE/EE to version 19.2.8 or later, 19.3.5 or later, or 19.4.2 or later to apply the official fix. These versions contain the remediation for the insufficient regular expression validation vulnerability. No other mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A critical vulnerability in GitLab CE/EE versions from 19.2 before 19.2.8, 19.3 before 19.3.5, and 19.4 before 19.4.2 allows unauthenticated users to execute arbitrary code on the GitLab server. This occurs due to insufficient validation of regular expressions in CI/CD configurations. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 10.0 and public exploit code is available via Metasploit. GitLab has released fixes in versions 19.2.8, 19.3.5, and 19.4.2 to remediate this issue.
