AI-suggested
Apply the official security update by upgrading to linux-aws-fips package version 6.8.0-1064.67+fips1 or later as provided by Ubuntu's security notice USN-8729-5. After updating, reboot the system to activate the fixes. Due to an ABI change, recompile and reinstall all third-party kernel modules to ensure compatibility with the updated kernel. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities were discovered in the Linux kernel for AWS FIPS systems affecting numerous subsystems including architectures (ARM32, ARM64, PowerPC), drivers, networking, filesystems, and security modules. These flaws could potentially allow an attacker to compromise the system. A security update addressing these issues is available and requires a system reboot and recompilation of third-party kernel modules due to ABI changes.
