AI-suggested
A patch is available and has been released by Ubuntu as detailed in security notice USN-7861-1. Users should update their Linux kernel packages to the fixed versions listed in the advisory and reboot their systems to apply the changes. Due to ABI changes, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be required. Following the vendor's update instructions fully mitigates these vulnerabilities.
Description
The Linux kernel contains multiple security vulnerabilities including a flaw known as VMSCAPE, which involves insufficient branch predictor isolation between a guest VM and a userspace hypervisor on certain processors. This flaw could allow an attacker in a guest VM to potentially expose sensitive information from the host OS. Additional vulnerabilities affect the HSI, Bluetooth, and Timer subsystems. These issues could be exploited to compromise the system. Fixed versions addressing these vulnerabilities have been released and are available for update.
