AI-suggested

A patch is available and has been released in linux-realtime-6.8 package versions 6.8.1-1047.48~22.04.1 and 6.8.1-1047.48. Users should update their systems to these versions or later and reboot to apply the fixes. Due to an ABI change, recompilation and reinstallation of third-party kernel modules may be required. Follow the vendor advisory at https://ubuntu.com/security/notices/USN-8184-1 for detailed update instructions.

Description

Multiple security vulnerabilities were discovered in the Linux kernel, including a critical flaw named EntrySign affecting some AMD Zen processors. This flaw allows improper verification of CPU microcode signatures, potentially enabling a privileged attacker to load malicious microcode, leading to loss of system integrity and confidentiality. The update addresses numerous security issues across a wide range of kernel subsystems and drivers. Fixed versions are available and users are advised to update and reboot their systems to apply the patches.
