AI-suggested

A patch is available in pyasn1 version 0.6.0_2. Users should upgrade to this fixed version or later to remediate the vulnerability. Red Hat has released updated packages for affected distributions, and applying these updates is recommended. Until patched, limiting the size of ASN.1 data processed or implementing resource limits may reduce risk, but the primary mitigation is to apply the official fix.

Description

A denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability exists in pyasn1 version 0.6.1 due to memory exhaustion caused by malformed RELATIVE-OID values with excessive continuation octets during decoding. An attacker can exploit this by crafting malicious ASN.1 packets, such as X.509 certificates, that cause the decoder to consume excessive memory and potentially hang or crash affected services. This impacts applications that decode ASN.1 data, including LDAP servers, TLS/SSL endpoints, and OCSP responders. A fix is available in pyasn1 version 0.6.0_2.
