Until a fix is available, users should carefully review their OAuthLib implementation and consider disabling or restricting the device authorization grant for public clients. Implementing strict validation of the device_code parameter as per RFC 8628 is recommended. Monitoring for updates from OAuthLib is advised.
Description
OAuthLib contains a vulnerability in its implementation of the OAuth 2.0 device authorization grant (RFC 8628). Specifically, the token endpoint does not validate the 'device_code' parameter, allowing an attacker who knows a valid client ID for a public client configured for the device workflow to obtain a bearer token without a valid device code. This flaw affects versions 0.5.1 and later. The vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS score of 8.5.
