Upgrade psqlODBC to version 18.00.0006 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Avoid connecting to untrusted servers or using insecure SSL settings that allow man-in-the-middle attacks. Patch status is confirmed by the fixed version 18.00.0006.
Description
psqlODBC versions before 18.00.0006 contain a vulnerability where the client copies data from a large-object read (loread) into its buffer using the length provided by the server without verifying the buffer size. This can allow a malicious or untrusted server, or a man-in-the-middle, to overflow the client buffer and overwrite adjacent memory. Any fetch of a large-object column can trigger this issue. The vulnerability has a high severity rating with a CVSS score of 7.5.
