AI-suggested
There is no practical mitigation currently available. Users should upgrade to a fixed version of the brace-expansion package when it becomes available. Since brace-expansion is typically a transitive dependency, isolating it is difficult. Monitor Red Hat advisories for patch releases and apply updates promptly.
Description
CVE-2026-13149 is a denial of service vulnerability in the brace-expansion npm package used by Red Hat Satellite's Lightspeed component. The vulnerability arises from the expand() function's exponential-time complexity when processing specially crafted input with consecutive non-expanding brace groups, leading to high CPU usage and event-loop blocking. There is currently no practical mitigation other than upgrading to a fixed version when available.
