Red Hat has released updated OpenEXR packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 Extended Update Support and related builder products that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate the issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in OpenEXR, an open-source high-dynamic-range image file format library. The first vulnerability (CVE-2026-41142) allows arbitrary code execution due to an integer overflow in image resizing. The second vulnerability (CVE-2026-42216) can lead to information disclosure and denial of service when processing malformed EXR files. These issues affect OpenEXR packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 Extended Update Support and related builder products. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory with updated packages to address these vulnerabilities.
