AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated OpenEXR packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as described in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:39027 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 to remediate these issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in OpenEXR, an open-source high-dynamic-range image file format. The first vulnerability (CVE-2026-41142) involves an integer overflow in image resizing that could lead to arbitrary code execution. The second vulnerability (CVE-2026-42216) allows information disclosure and denial of service through malformed EXR files. Red Hat has issued a security update for OpenEXR in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 to address these issues.
