AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated PostgreSQL 15 packages as part of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support to address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update described in Red Hat Advisory RHSA-2026:32983 promptly. Detailed instructions for applying the update are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patches.

Description

Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in PostgreSQL 15 as used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support. These include an operating system account hijack via symlink following in pg_basebackup and pg_rewind, a buffer overflow in libpq allowing server superuser to overwrite client stack memory, credential recovery via a covert timing channel in MD5 password comparison, and an integer overflow causing an undersized allocation and out-of-bounds write. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory with updates to address these issues.
