AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated PostgreSQL 15 packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related platforms that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply these official updates promptly following Red Hat's guidance at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. The advisory indicates these fixes are included in the updated packages, so applying the update is the recommended mitigation. No additional or alternative mitigations are specified.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified and fixed in PostgreSQL 15 as part of a Red Hat security update. These include an operating system account hijack via symlink following, a buffer overflow in libpq allowing server superuser to overwrite client stack memory, credential recovery via a covert timing channel in MD5 password comparison, and an integer overflow causing an out-of-bounds write. The update addresses these issues to improve the security of PostgreSQL deployments on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related platforms.
