Description

CVE-2026-11940 is a vulnerability in the Python standard library tarfile.extractall() function. It allows a remote attacker to craft a malicious archive that bypasses security filters by using a hardlink referencing a symlink, enabling files to be read or written outside the intended extraction directory. This can lead to information disclosure or arbitrary file modification. The flaw affects Red Hat AI Base Images 3.0.5 (rocm) as shipped with Red Hat's python3 packages.
