Red Hat recommends reviewing the advisory with a Technical Account Manager if applicable. Avoid unpacking untrusted tar archives until a fix is provided.

Description

A vulnerability exists in the Python tarfile.extractall() function used in Red Hat AI Base Images 3.3.5 (Spyre). This flaw allows a specially crafted archive to bypass security filters by using a hardlink referencing a symlink, enabling files to be read or written outside the intended extraction directory. This can lead to information disclosure or arbitrary file modification.
