AI-suggested
Apply the updated crun packages (version 1.28-2.hum1) provided by Red Hat to fix this vulnerability. Additionally, explicitly configure a dedicated /dev mount point inside OCI container bundles to prevent symlink traversal, or restrict untrusted users from deploying custom OCI bundles on the host. These mitigations reduce the risk of exploitation.
Description
A vulnerability in crun, an OCI container runtime, allows local attackers to create or overwrite files on the host system by exploiting symlink traversal in the container's /dev directory when it is not explicitly mounted. This can lead to privilege escalation or denial of service on the host. The issue arises because crun follows symlinks without using O_NOFOLLOW, enabling unauthorized device node creation outside container boundaries. An update to crun packages addresses this flaw.
