What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat states that mitigation options either do not exist or do not meet their criteria for ease of use, deployment, or applicability to the widespread installation base. Users should monitor Red Hat advisories for updates and consider limiting exposure by controlling redirect behavior or avoiding use of affected Golang net/http client versions where feasible. Customers with Red Hat Technical Account Managers (TAM) can seek direct guidance. Upgrading to fixed versions when available is recommended once released.

Description

CVE-2024-45336 is a vulnerability in the Golang net/http package used by Red Hat products including OpenShift. It involves improper handling of sensitive headers during HTTP redirects across domains, potentially exposing credentials. Specifically, an Authorization header dropped after a cross-domain redirect can be incorrectly restored if a subsequent redirect is within the same domain, causing sensitive information to be sent to unintended destinations. Red Hat rates this vulnerability as moderate impact with a CVSS score of 5.9. No fix is currently available, and mitigation options are limited or do not meet Red Hat's criteria for ease of deployment and applicability.
