AI-suggested
Red Hat recommends upgrading the go-billy library to version 5.9.0 or later (including 6.0.0-alpha.1) to mitigate this vulnerability. Users of the Red Hat Web Terminal Operator should install or upgrade to version 1.15.3 or higher. No other mitigations or workarounds are specified. Since this is a library vulnerability, updating the dependent components is necessary.
Description
CVE-2026-44740 is a denial of service vulnerability in the go-billy library, a Go filesystem abstraction used by Red Hat Web Terminal Operator. The flaw arises from insufficient validation and missing safety mechanisms when processing crafted or malformed input, such as untrusted repository data or filesystem structures. This can cause panics, infinite loops, uncontrolled recursion, or excessive resource consumption, impacting application availability. Red Hat Web Terminal Operator 1.15.3 is the relevant release. Mitigation involves upgrading the go-billy library to version 5.9.0 or later.
