A patch is available in S3ql version 6.3.0 that fixes this vulnerability. Users should upgrade to version 6.3.0 or later to remediate the issue. The vendor advisory confirms the availability of this fix. Until patched, applications should consider limiting the size of ASN.1 data processed or apply other input validation to prevent processing of malformed RELATIVE-OID values.
Description
A Denial-of-Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in pyasn1 version 0.6.1 used by S3ql, caused by memory exhaustion when decoding malformed RELATIVE-OID values with excessive continuation octets. This flaw can cause affected applications to hang or crash due to resource exhaustion. The vulnerability impacts systems that decode ASN.1 data, such as LDAP servers, TLS/SSL endpoints, and OCSP responders. A fix is available in version 6.3.0 of S3ql.
