Description

Tobit Laboratories AG TeamDavid's Webbox application has a vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to write arbitrary files on the server. This occurs because user input is written directly to files without proper validation or restriction on file types. Attackers can create files such as .htm containing malicious JavaScript, leading to stored cross-site scripting when accessed by users. The issue affects TeamDavid through Rollout 524. No patch or official remediation guidance is currently provided.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Tobit Laboratories AG TeamDavid's Webbox application (CVE-2026-54208) is an arbitrary file write flaw. It allows unauthenticated attackers to create or overwrite files on the server with attacker-controlled content due to improper validation of user input before writing to files. This can lead to stored cross-site scripting attacks when malicious files are accessed by users. The affected versions include TeamDavid through Rollout 524. There is no indication of known exploits in the wild or available patches.

Potential Impact

An unauthenticated attacker can write arbitrary files to the server, potentially creating malicious files that trigger stored cross-site scripting attacks when accessed by users. This can lead to client-side code execution and compromise of user sessions or data. The vulnerability impacts the confidentiality and integrity of the application and its users.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the affected application and monitor for suspicious file creation. Implement input validation and file type restrictions as a temporary mitigation if possible.
