0 A previously unknown modular multi-stage framework named MovieReaper has been discovered targeting users through compromised torrent files. Attackers compromised the public torrent repository itorrents[.]org, enabling them to distribute malicious loaders disguised as popular movies, including "The Odyssey." The campaign began in mid-August 2026 and affected hundreds of victims across multiple countries. The malware employs a sophisticated infection chain with fileless execution, utilizing blockchain network Solana for C2 infrastructure resilience. The framework includes multiple stages: an initial loader with anti-sandbox checks, shellcode that retrieves C2 addresses from Solana blockchain, UAC bypass with persistence mechanisms, and a final file manager module providing comprehensive file system access. The campaign demonstrates advanced evasion techniques including manual API resolution, vectored exception handling, and in-memory execution. Beginning in 2024, a financially motivated threat actor designated BREEZE COMET has conducted sophisticated operations targeting Brazilian financial services, retail, and eCommerce organizations. The group specializes in manipulating payment systems including Pix, STR, and Boleto to conduct fraudulent transfers worth tens of thousands of USD. Their evolved tactics leverage customized malware suites written in multiple languages including Rust, Nim, Golang, and Java, alongside compromised government websites for initial access and command and control. The threat actor demonstrates advanced capabilities by targeting banking software, payment APIs, and mTLS credentials while maintaining persistent access through multiple backdoors. Evidence indicates BREEZE COMET uses generative AI to accelerate malware development and script creation, suggesting potential expansion to other Latin American and African countries based on infrastructure replication observed in Nigeria, Paraguay, Ghana, and Venezuela. CediPay is a crypto-to-fiat app for the Ghanaian market. A vulnerability in CediPay prior to version 1.2.3 allows attackers to bypass input validation in the transaction API. The issue has been fixed in version 1.2.3. If upgrading is not immediately possible, restrict API access to trusted networks or IP ranges; enforce strict input validation at the application layer; and/or monitor transaction logs for anomalies or suspicious activity. These mitigations reduce exposure but do not fully eliminate the vulnerability. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 02/19/2026, 18:53:47 UTC Added: 02/19/2026, 21:47:07 UTC |
