This content describes a free, read-only bash script designed to triage WordPress sites for signs of compromise related to the PHP2Shell vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618, CVE-2026-109619) and a third CVE-2026-115560. The script checks PHP versions, WordPress core and plugin integrity, suspicious PHP files in uploads, recent file modifications, common web-shell patterns, user accounts, cron jobs, logs, Docker containers, and configuration settings relevant to the vulnerabilities. It generates detailed Markdown reports without modifying the target systems. The PHP2Shell vulnerabilities are critical remote code execution bugs patched in PHP releases 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, and 8.5.12, but the third CVE has no fixed build yet, with a recommended mitigation of setting session.upload_progress.enabled=0. The script helps detect potential backdoors planted before patching, as updating PHP alone does not remove them.
Missing Authorization vulnerability in Magepeople inc. WpEvently mage-eventpress allows Exploiting Incorrectly Configured Access Control Security Levels.This issue affects WpEvently: from n/a through 5.7.8.
In October 2026, critical remote code execution vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) were discovered in PHP affecting multiple supported versions. These vulnerabilities allow unauthenticated attackers to execute code remotely due to out-of-memory corruption and stale global state issues. Emergency security updates were released on October 21, 2026, for PHP versions 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, and 8.5.12. Mitigations exist but are incomplete; updating to the fixed versions is strongly recommended. Additional incidents involving LiteLLM, eMudhra, GitLab, Railway, and Zeabur were also reported in the same timeframe. The PHP project continues to address these issues with further advisories and release candidates.
A Korean-speaking threat actor linked with moderate confidence to North Korea's Lazarus Group is conducting a global campaign exploiting two critical PHP vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) that allow unauthenticated remote code execution. The campaign targets government agencies, financial institutions, manufacturing, logistics, aviation, and trading platforms across multiple countries including the US, Japan, and EU. Exploitation attempts have been observed since 17 October 2026, involving web shell deployment and session poisoning. The vulnerabilities affect all internet-facing PHP installations below versions 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, or 8.2.35, with Apache mod_php being at highest risk.
Echo v5 contains a vulnerability in the ExtractIPFromRealIPHeader function where it trusts the X-Real-IP header value without verifying the direct network peer's address. This allows an untrusted client to spoof IP addresses such as loopback or private addresses. Applications relying on this extractor for IP allowlists, rate limiting, audit logs, or forwarding headers may accept spoofed client identities. Versions from 5.0.0 through 5.4.0 are affected. The issue is fixed in version 5.4.1 by validating the direct peer before accepting the X-Real-IP header.
Echo's WebSocket proxy middleware in versions 4.15.0 through 4.16.0 and 5.0.0 through 5.4.0 can retain connections and handlers after a WebSocket client disconnects if the upstream server keeps its connection open. This resource retention can accumulate with repeated connections, potentially causing denial of service. The issue does not affect confidentiality or integrity. Fixed in versions 4.16.1 and 5.4.1.
The DHCPv4 client in Zephyr's network subsystem used a predictable transaction identifier (xid) for DHCP transactions, violating RFC 2131 requirements. This predictable xid allows an attacker on the same network segment or with prior knowledge of the xid to forge DHCP replies that the client accepts without verifying the server source. Such forged replies can redirect the device's network traffic by changing its default gateway and DNS resolvers, or disrupt network configuration by sending forged DHCPACK or DHCPNAK messages. The issue affects specific Zephyr versions and has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 5.6.
CVE-2026-79981 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Zephyr project's DNS stub resolver. The resolver binds a single UDP socket with a fixed ephemeral source port for all DNS queries to a configured server, violating RFC 5452's requirement that both source port and transaction ID vary. This allows an off-path attacker with UDP reachability to the device to guess the source port easily and flood forged DNS responses, potentially causing the application to resolve attacker-chosen addresses. The vulnerability affects Zephyr versions from 1.8.0 up to but not including 4.5.0. A patch is available that randomizes the source port per query, increasing the guessing space and mitigating the risk.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
memstick: core: wait for request completion before freeing card
In memstick_alloc_card() and memstick_set_rw_addr(),
wait_for_completion_timeout() is used to wait for device identification
and address configuration requests to complete.
The memstick subsystem does not provide an abort or cancellation
callback in struct memstick_host for in-flight requests. If
wait_for_completion_timeout() expires (for instance, when a USB transfer
or command retry is delayed), memstick_alloc_card() returns an error and
frees the memstick_dev structure via kfree(card).
However, the host controller driver (such as rtsx_usb_ms) is still
running the request asynchronously in worker context. When the transfer
eventually finishes, the driver writes into host->req->data, which
points to memory inside the already freed card structure. This leads to
a KASAN slab-use-after-free write:

Host controller drivers (rtsx_usb_ms, jmb38x_ms, tifm_ms, r592) already
implement their own hardware and bus timeouts, and callers in
mspro_block and ms_block already rely on wait_for_completion()
unconditionally.
Replace wait_for_completion_timeout() with wait_for_completion() in
memstick_set_rw_addr() and memstick_alloc_card() so that the card
structure is never freed while an asynchronous request is in flight.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: brcmfmac: fix P2P device removal race in brcmf_detach()
When the driver is removed while the user space process that created
the P2P device (e.g. wpa_supplicant) is still exiting, the P2P device
interface is removed twice and the kernel crashes.
The two paths are:
- wpa_supplicant, on exit, sends NL80211_CMD_DEL_INTERFACE for the P2P
device. nl80211_del_interface() holds RTNL and the wiphy mutex and
calls brcmf_p2p_del_vif(), which disables discovery and waits up to
1.5 s for BRCMF_E_IF_DEL. Then it calls brcmf_remove_interface(),
which unregisters the wdev and frees the vif and the ifp.
- brcmf_detach() sets the bus down, so BRCMF_E_IF_DEL never arrives,
and calls brcmf_remove_interface(ifp, false) for the same ifp.
brcmf_p2p_ifp_removed() reads ifp->vif and then blocks on
rtnl_lock(). When brcmf_p2p_del_vif() releases RTNL, it calls
cfg80211_unregister_wdev() on the wdev that was already unregistered
and freed.
The second list_del_rcu() of wdev->list faults on LIST_POISON2:

The log was taken with debug=0x406 on an i.MX 8M Plus board with a
CYW55513 (Sona IF513) on SDIO. The driver is the Ezurio backport of
brcmfmac from v6.18.22 on a 5.4-rt kernel. The code involved is the same
in mainline.
To reproduce:
1. Start wpa_supplicant on wlan0 and let it associate. It creates the
P2P device (iw dev shows "type P2P-device").
2. Stop wpa_supplicant and remove the driver without waiting for
wpa_supplicant to exit:
kill $(pidof wpa_supplicant)
rmmod brcmfmac_cyw brcmfmac
The crash is reproducible on that board.
For the interface without a netdev (the P2P device), take RTNL and the
wiphy mutex in brcmf_detach() before reading iflist, and remove it with
locked=true. If brcmf_p2p_del_vif() runs first, brcmf_detach() finds the
slot empty. If brcmf_detach() runs first, nl80211 does not find the wdev
any more. The interfaces with a netdev are removed as before, because
brcmf_del_if() takes RTNL on its own for the primary interface.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: always dissect GSO packets in __virtio_net_hdr_to_skb()
Commit 9e8db5913264 ("net: avoid false positives in untrusted gso
validation") added a '&& skb->network_header' check before flow-dissecting
GSO packets without VIRTIO_NET_HDR_F_NEEDS_CSUM in
__virtio_net_hdr_to_skb(), because some callers (such as tun_get_user(),
tun_xdp_one(), virtnet_receive_done(), and raw_verify_header()) called
virtio_net_hdr_*_to_skb() before initializing skb->network_header and
skb->dev.
Because __alloc_skb() and __build_skb_around() zero-initialize
skb->network_header to 0 (unlike mac_header and transport_header which
are initialized to ~0U), those four callers always had
skb->network_header == 0 and bypassed flow dissection in
__virtio_net_hdr_to_skb(). More generally, skb->network_header is an
offset from skb->head (where 0 is also a valid offset whenever
skb_headroom(skb) is 0), not a boolean flag.
Whenever the 'if (gso_type && skb->network_header)' branch was skipped,
the fallback 'else if (gso_type)' only pulled nh_min_len + thlen (40 bytes
for TCPv4) without dissecting the packet, without validating ip_proto or
n_proto, and without setting skb->transport_header.
If the packet has a malformed network header, it is not rejected and a
subsequent skb_probe_transport_header() also fails, leaving
skb->transport_header at ~0U (0xffff). Similarly, if an IPv4 packet
carries IP options (ihl > 5) or an IPv6 packet carries extension headers,
pulling only nh_min_len + thlen can leave the TCP header outside
skb->head. In both cases, tcp_hdrlen(skb) in skb_gso_transport_seglen()
reads out-of-bounds:
BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in skb_gso_transport_seglen
Read of size 2 by task poc/133
skb_gso_transport_seglen (net/core/gso.c:155)
skb_gso_validate_mac_len (net/core/gso.c:270)
tbf_enqueue (net/sched/sch_tbf.c:260)
dev_qdisc_enqueue (net/core/dev.c:4227)
__dev_queue_xmit (net/core/dev.c:4884)
In addition, checking virtio_net_hdr_match_proto() only inside
'if (!skb->protocol)' before flow dissection both skipped validation when
skb->protocol was pre-set by the caller and rejected VLAN-tagged frames
whose outer L2 protocol is ETH_P_8021Q or ETH_P_8021AD.
Fix this by:
1. Initializing skb->dev and skb->network_header (plus skb->protocol for
IFF_TUN) before virtio_net_hdr_*_to_skb() in tun_get_user(),
tun_xdp_one(), virtnet_receive_done(), and raw_verify_header(). In
tun_get_user(), drop the redundant skb_reset_mac_header(skb) in the
IFF_TUN case since __virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() unconditionally resets
mac_header.
2. Removing '&& skb->network_header' and the unvalidated
'else if (gso_type)' fallback in __virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() so all GSO
packets without VIRTIO_NET_HDR_F_NEEDS_CSUM are flow-dissected, have
their transport header pulled into linear data, and have
skb->transport_header set.
3. Moving the virtio_net_hdr_match_proto() check to after
skb_flow_dissect_flow_keys_basic(), validating keys.basic.n_proto
against hdr_gso_type.
Hugging Face Datasets through 5.1.0 contains an insecure deserialization vulnerability that allows attackers to execute arbitrary Python code by crafting a malicious pickle file loaded through the deprecated pandas packaged builder. Attackers can supply a pickle-backed dataset that is processed by Pandas._generate_tables via pandas.read_pickle() without validation, so when a victim calls datasets.load_dataset("pandas", data_files=...), the embedded __reduce__ payload executes code with the victim process's privileges.
baserCMS versions 5.0.0 before 5.3.2 and 5.4.0 before 5.4.2 have a vulnerability in the public API endpoint for mail message submissions. The API endpoint does not enforce the form's captcha verification, allowing unauthenticated attackers to automate submissions without solving the captcha challenge. This can lead to spam in administrator inboxes, attacker-influenced auto-replies, and accumulation of mail message records in the database. The issue has been patched in versions 5.3.2 and 5.4.2.
A critical deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability (CVE-2026-112855) exists in axiomthemes Redy up to version 1.3.5. This flaw allows object injection, potentially leading to full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 9.8, indicating high severity. No patch or remediation information is currently provided.
PHP2Shell refers to two critical PHP engine vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) that allow unauthenticated remote code execution. These flaws have been exploited in attempts to spread a Mirai-derived botnet variant named Potassium. Despite multiple exploitation attempts and the emergence of an ASLR bypass exploit, no confirmed successful compromises have been reported. The vulnerabilities were patched on October 21, 2026, with PHP versions 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, and 8.2.35. Organizations have taken precautionary measures including taking systems offline during patching. Exploits require uncommon server configurations and detailed knowledge, limiting their effectiveness in typical production environments.
VeloCloud Orchestrator (VCO) on-premises versions contain a critical SQL injection vulnerability (CVE-2026-114625) that allows authenticated users with minimal privileges, such as those with the Enterprise Read Only role, to escalate their access to superuser operator level. This escalation grants unauthorized access to privileged internal functionality, potentially compromising the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the orchestrator and its managed data. The vulnerability is actively exploited in the wild, with specific malicious IP addresses identified. Fixed versions have been released for affected VCO versions 5.2.x, 6.1.x, and 6.4.x. Hosted and dedicated VCO instances have already been patched. Immediate upgrade to the fixed releases is recommended, along with restricting web interface access and monitoring for suspicious activity.
