0 Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in the Node.js 22 package distributed with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 Extended Update Support. These include a denial of service, uninitialized memory exposure, and file permissions bypass issues. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory (RHSA-2026:2899) addressing these vulnerabilities with updated packages. The vulnerabilities affect Node.js 22.22.0-1.el10_0 across multiple architectures including x86_64, s390x, ppc64le, and aarch64. No CVSS scores are provided in the advisory. The update is available and should be applied to remediate these issues. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 02/18/2026, 08:42:09 UTC Added: 06/09/2026, 10:23:15 UTC |
0 This Red Hat security advisory addresses multiple vulnerabilities in the Node.js 22 module for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. The issues include filesystem permissions bypass, denial of service, and uninitialized memory exposure. The update fixes six CVEs related to these vulnerabilities. The advisory rates the security impact as Important (high severity). Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 02/17/2026, 09:33:08 UTC Added: 06/09/2026, 10:23:27 UTC |

A vulnerability in Node.js's permission model allows modification of a file's access and modification timestamps via the futimes() function even when the process only has read permissions. This occurs because futimes() does not enforce the expected write-permission checks, unlike utimes(). This flaw affects Node.js versions 20.0.0 up to but not including 20.20.0, 21.0.0 up to but not including 22.22.0, 23.0.0 up to but not including 24.13.0, and 25.0.0 up to but not including 25.3.0. The vulnerability could be used to obscure file activity by altering timestamps, impacting the reliability of logs. A patch is available to address this issue.
