A security update has been issued for Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) container images, addressing vulnerabilities including CVE-2026-13221. The update involves multiple RPM packages related to Perl and Red Hat Hardened Images. The advisory indicates a high severity level but does not provide detailed technical specifics or CVSS scores. The update is intended to mitigate security issues in affected versions of RHUI. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 09/16/2026, 10:07:58 UTC Added: 07/16/2026, 10:39:53 UTC |
0 This security update for Perl addresses multiple vulnerabilities including uncaught exceptions in zip header parsing, heap buffer overflow in regex compilation on 32-bit builds, heap memory disclosure in socket operations, integer overflow causing out-of-bounds heap reads, and regex trie branch-count overflow leading to incorrect pattern matching. These issues collectively pose a high risk to affected systems. No specific affected versions beyond those stated are provided. No known exploits in the wild have been reported. The update fixes these issues to improve Perl's security and stability. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 07/22/2026, 08:50:06 UTC Added: 09/17/2026, 01:59:05 UTC |
Perl versions through 5.43.10 contain an integer overflow vulnerability in the S_measure_struct function used by pack and unpack operations. This overflow can cause an out-of-bounds heap read when processing specially crafted templates with large repeat counts. The flaw allows reading heap memory beyond the intended buffer, potentially exposing sensitive data. A patch is available to address this issue. 0 Perl versions before 5.40.5-RC1, from 5.41.0 before 5.42.3-RC1, from 5.43.0 before 5.43.11 have an integer overflow in S_measure_struct leading to an out-of-bounds heap read in pack and unpack. S_measure_struct adds each item's size times its repeat count to a running total with no overflow check, so a large repeat count in a pack or unpack template wraps the signed SSize_t total negative. The @, X, and x position codes then guard their moves with a signed length comparison that passes when the length is negative, advancing the buffer pointer out of bounds. A template derived from untrusted input can read heap memory past the buffer and return it to the caller.
