The npm package andi-papeda32-sluey contains malicious code linked to a large-scale spam campaign flooding npm with over 15,000 packages in 2024. These packages use autopublish scripts to automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names, aiming to inflate developer reputation scores for the tea.xyz token reward system. The malicious payload alters package.json files by removing private flags, changing version numbers, and generating random Indonesian-themed package names, continuously republishing variants to pollute the npm registry.
