As the patch initially provided was reverted and no current patch is confirmed, users should verify the status with the vendor or maintainers for an official fix. Until a fix is available, disabling the PHP 'register_argc_argv' option (setting it to 'Off') can mitigate the vulnerability by preventing the attack vector. Monitor official Cacti advisories for updates and apply patches once released.
Description
Cacti, an operational monitoring and fault management framework, has a critical command injection vulnerability in its 1.3.x DEV branch. This flaw allows unauthenticated users to execute arbitrary commands on the server if the PHP configuration option 'register_argc_argv' is enabled, which is the default in some environments such as the main PHP Docker image. The vulnerability arises from improper handling of the '$poller_id' parameter sourced from '$_SERVER["argv"]' in 'cmd_realtime.php'. A patch was initially committed but later reverted, leaving the issue unpatched in affected versions.
