AI-suggested

A fix is available and users should update to the patched versions provided by their vendor. For Ubuntu, update to libtika-java version 1.22-1ubuntu0.1~esm2 (20.04 LTS) or 1.22-2+deb11u1build0.22.04.1 (22.04 LTS). Standard system updates will apply these fixes. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patches.

Description

A critical XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability exists in Apache Tika modules tika-core (1.13-3.2.1), tika-pdf-module (2.0.0-3.2.1), and tika-parsers (1.13-1.28.5). The flaw allows attackers to exploit crafted XFA files inside PDFs to perform XXE injection. This vulnerability can lead to sensitive information disclosure or malicious requests to internal or external resources. The issue was fixed in tika-core version 3.2.2 and corresponding patched package versions in Ubuntu distributions.
