AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied. Fixed versions include 7.81.0-1ubuntu1.30, 8.5.0-2ubuntu10.16, 8.20.0-2ubuntu11.1, and 8.18.0-1ubuntu2.8. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to remediate the vulnerability. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are indicated in the vendor advisory.
Description
Curl versions prior to certain patched releases improperly handle HSTS policies when importing a parent includeSubDomains entry before a longer-lived child entry. This causes the child entry to be silently dropped, and when the parent expires, curl loses the child's valid HSTS policy, resulting in unencrypted HTTP requests instead of HTTPS. This vulnerability has a high severity score and is addressed in specific patched versions.
