What to do

AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by adding the missing dma_free_coherent() call to release DMA memory on failure. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this patch to remediate the issue.

Description

CVE-2024-56748 addresses a memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SCSI qedf driver. The issue occurs in the function qedf_alloc_and_init_sb() where DMA memory allocated for sb_virt is not freed upon failure of the sb_init hook. This flaw has been fixed by adding a call to dma_free_coherent() to properly release the memory, aligning with similar fixes in related drivers.
