Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-10531 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability in the AI Share & Summarize WordPress plugin prior to version 2.0.4. The vulnerability arises from insufficient sanitization and escaping of certain shortcode attributes, allowing users with Contributor or higher privileges to inject malicious scripts that are stored and executed when the page is viewed. This can lead to unauthorized script execution in the context of the affected site.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows users with Contributor or higher privileges to perform stored XSS attacks, potentially leading to script execution in the browsers of site visitors or administrators. This could result in session hijacking, defacement, or other malicious actions depending on the injected payload. However, the vulnerability requires authenticated user privileges at least at the Contributor level.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official fix or patch is currently confirmed. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch is available, restrict Contributor or higher user roles to trusted users only and consider disabling or removing the plugin if possible.
