Users should verify if updates to versions 2.25.7 or 2.26.2 or later are available and apply them once released. Until then, restrict workflow creation and modification permissions to trusted users only and review the configuration of N8N_BLOCK_RUNNER_ENV_ACCESS to limit environment variable exposure. Monitor vendor advisories for official remediation guidance.
Description
CVE-2026-56777 is a medium-severity vulnerability in n8n versions before 2.25.7 and 2.26.x before 2.26.2. It allows an authenticated user with workflow creation or modification permissions to bypass the abstract syntax tree (AST) security validator in the Python Code node. This bypass can lead to unauthorized access to the task executor module namespace. The vulnerability affects only self-hosted n8n instances where the Python Task Runner is enabled and the environment variable N8N_BLOCK_RUNNER_ENV_ACCESS is configured to allow access, potentially exposing environment variables accessible to the task runner process.
