Published: 08/28/2026 (08/28/2026, 20:31:03 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: TP-Link Systems Inc.
Product: TL-MR100 v3.20

Description

A pre-authentication stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the http_gdpr_decrypt function of TL-MR100 V3.20 due to insufficient bounds checking of encrypted requests to the /cgi/login endpoint. An adjacent unauthenticated attacker with access to the router's web management interface can trigger memory corruption and potentially achieve arbitrary code execution. Successful exploitation can overwrite saved control-flow data on the httpd process stack prior to authentication, resulting in a service crash or potential arbitrary code execution in the context of the affected process.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in TP-Link TL-MR100 v3.20 involves a stack-based buffer overflow in the http_gdpr_decrypt function. The flaw arises from improper bounds checking of encrypted requests sent to the /cgi/login endpoint, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to corrupt memory before authentication. Exploitation can overwrite saved control-flow data on the httpd process stack, leading to a crash or potential arbitrary code execution within the affected process.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can cause denial of service by crashing the httpd process or enable arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the httpd process. This occurs prior to authentication, increasing the risk as no credentials are required to trigger the vulnerability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or temporary workaround has been documented at this time.
