AI-suggested
A patch is available and should be applied by updating to the fixed package versions: 1.24.0-2ubuntu7.19, 1.30.4-7ubuntu1.1, or 1.28.3-2ubuntu1.12 as provided by the Ubuntu security notice USN-8955-1. Standard system updates will apply the necessary fixes. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patches.
Description
A vulnerability in NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source occurs when configured with ssl_session_cache shared:name:size without explicit ssl_session_ticket_key rotation. This flaw allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to forge client SSL sessions unpredictably, potentially bypassing client certificate verification. The issue affects certain Ubuntu package versions and can expose resources to unauthorized actors. The vulnerability is limited to the data plane and does not affect the control plane. Fixed versions are available in updated Ubuntu packages.
