AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been released in PyJWT version 2.14.0 and corresponding Ubuntu package updates (e.g., 2.3.0-1ubuntu0.5, 2.7.0-1ubuntu0.3, 2.13.0-1ubuntu1, 2.10.1-4ubuntu1.2). Users should update to these fixed versions to remediate the vulnerability. Standard system updates on supported Ubuntu releases will apply the necessary patches.
Description
PyJWT versions prior to 2.14.0 have a vulnerability in the PyJWKClient component where redirect destinations are not revalidated against the JWKS trust boundary. This allows an attacker to influence redirects from a trusted JWKS endpoint, causing PyJWKClient to follow the redirect and consume attacker-controlled key material. This can lead to disclosure of forwarded credentials or substitution of verification keys. The issue is fixed in PyJWT version 2.14.0.
