Red Hat has released updated RPM packages for nodejs24 and related components that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply these security updates as soon as possible to remediate the issue. No other mitigations or workarounds are specified by Red Hat.
Description
A vulnerability (CVE-2026-118764) was found in the minimatch component used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs, specifically affecting nodejs24 packages. The flaw allows a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by supplying a specially crafted glob pattern that triggers excessive CPU and memory consumption during pattern compilation. This leads to resource exhaustion. Red Hat has released updated RPM packages to address this issue.
