AI-suggested
A security update is available that includes fixed versions of the maven3.9 RPMs (version 3.9.16-0.5.hum1). Users should apply this update to remediate the vulnerability. Since the vulnerability requires processing untrusted Java class files, avoiding such files or restricting their processing can reduce risk. No additional mitigations are specified by Red Hat.
Description
A denial of service (DoS) vulnerability exists in OW2 ASM used by Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs, specifically in the maven3.9 packages. The flaw allows an attacker to cause an infinite loop by supplying a specially crafted Java class file with methods exceeding 64 kilobytes during transformation. This results in the application hanging indefinitely without compromising system confidentiality or integrity. The vulnerability primarily affects build-time or bytecode analysis tools processing untrusted Java class files.
