AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been released in updated OpenSSH packages for supported Ubuntu releases. Users should update their OpenSSH client and server packages to versions 1:10.2p1-2ubuntu3.4 or later on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, 1:9.6p1-3ubuntu13.18 or later on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, and 1:8.9p1-3ubuntu0.16 or later on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Applying these updates will remediate the vulnerability. Standard system updates are sufficient to apply the fix.

Description

OpenSSH versions before 10.4 contain a vulnerability in the scp utility that may cause files to be placed in the parent directory of the intended destination when copying files between two remote hosts. This behavior can lead to files being written to unintended locations on the file system. The issue has been addressed in updated OpenSSH packages.
