AI-suggested

A fixed version 3.4.0 or later is implied by the description, as the vulnerability affects versions before 3.4.0. Users should upgrade to SunEditor version 3.4.0 or later to remediate this issue. No other mitigation or temporary workaround is indicated.

Description

SunEditor versions before 3.4.0 have a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the ModalAnchorEditor's #createBookmarkList function. This flaw arises because entity-decoded header text (h1-h6) is inserted into the bookmark list using innerHTML without proper escaping. An attacker can embed HTML-encoded payloads in editor headers that execute JavaScript when a user opens the link modal and types # in the URL input.
