CVE-2026-54886: CWE-835 Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') in Erlang OTPCVE-2026-54886 0 CVE-2026-54886 is a medium severity vulnerability in Erlang OTP's ssh_sftpd module that causes an infinite loop in the handle_data/4 function when processing certain extended channel data. An authenticated SFTP user can exploit this by sending SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_EXTENDED_DATA messages with non-zero type codes and valid payloads, causing the targeted SFTP channel process to become permanently unresponsive. This results in denial of service on the affected channels and increased CPU and memory usage. The vulnerability affects OTP versions from 17.0 up to and including 29.0.3, 28.5.0.3, and 27.3.4.14, corresponding to ssh versions from 3.0.1 up to and including 6.0.2, 5.5.2.2, and 5.2.11.9. No data leakage or unauthorized access is possible through this issue. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 07/02/2026, 16:06:20 UTC Added: 07/02/2026, 18:06:48 UTC |
