An unidentified, likely Chinese-speaking, financially motivated threat actor targeted South Korean financial institutions between late September and early October 2026, successfully exfiltrating data. The attacker used ARTEX, an open-source Chinese agentic penetration testing tool, combined with large language models such as DeepSeek v4.1-flash, GLM-5.3, and Grok 4.6 to enhance operational tempo and conduct multiple intrusions rapidly. Analysis revealed exposed ARTEX configuration files, Claude Code session histories, and a two-server infrastructure involving Hong Kong. The adversary also researched Korean data breach marketplaces and Telegram channels for monetizing stolen data. The campaign demonstrates sophisticated use of AI-driven tooling to conduct targeted intrusions against financial institutions.

FortiBleed is an ongoing global campaign targeting internet-facing Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and SSL VPN gateways. It exploits reused or leaked credentials and legacy SHA-256 password storage to harvest and crack authentication data at scale. Attackers gain access by scanning for exposed SSL VPN portals, performing credential stuffing and password spraying, and cracking stolen password hashes offline. Once inside, they create new administrative accounts for persistence and conduct Active Directory enumeration to expand access. Organizations may experience account lockouts due to attacker actions. The campaign acts as an initial-access broker with links to ransomware affiliates INC/Lynx and Payload, representing a significant medium-severity threat requiring immediate defensive measures.

A social engineering campaign targeting security professionals uses fake consultancy offers and job opportunities to exploit trust. Attackers create sparse social media profiles claiming to be consultants, offering $300 for simple consultations on topics like digital transformation. The initial phone call serves as screening to identify targets with valuable access or knowledge. If successful, targets are asked to provide increasingly sensitive information through written reports, requiring them to abuse trusted access, probe internal systems, or leverage professional relationships. Similar variants include fake recruiters offering prestigious positions while requiring installation of trojanised software. These attacks exploit professional flattery and overconfidence, manipulating security practitioners into compromising their most valuable asset: professional integrity and trusted relationships within the industry.

Beginning in 2024, a financially motivated threat actor designated BREEZE COMET has conducted sophisticated operations targeting Brazilian financial services, retail, and eCommerce organizations. The group specializes in manipulating payment systems including Pix, STR, and Boleto to conduct fraudulent transfers worth tens of thousands of USD. Their evolved tactics leverage customized malware suites written in multiple languages including Rust, Nim, Golang, and Java, alongside compromised government websites for initial access and command and control. The threat actor demonstrates advanced capabilities by targeting banking software, payment APIs, and mTLS credentials while maintaining persistent access through multiple backdoors. Evidence indicates BREEZE COMET uses generative AI to accelerate malware development and script creation, suggesting potential expansion to other Latin American and African countries based on infrastructure replication observed in Nigeria, Paraguay, Ghana, and Venezuela.

Analysis of 4 million dynamic malware reports reveals that 45.32% of malware samples with command-and-control activity establish direct-to-IP (D2IP) connections, bypassing DNS entirely and evading DNS-based security defenses. D2IP traffic accounts for 23.17% of all C2 connection attempts. This behavior is observed across diverse threats including Phorpiex ransomware droppers using hard-coded IP addresses, persistent data exfiltration campaigns employing obfuscated HTTP GET requests, SectopRAT targeting educational institutions with in-browser proxy capabilities, and IoT botnets like Mozi and Boatnet propagating through P2P networks. The research introduces zero trust IP (ZT-IP), a network-level enforcement approach that verifies whether outbound connection destinations were previously sanctioned by DNS responses, effectively blocking malicious D2IP communications that traditional DNS-based security controls cannot detect.

This analysis examines how threat actors abuse Keitaro, an advertising performance tracker, for various malicious purposes. The report covers a wide range of threats, including malware delivery, phishing, scams, and illegal content distribution. Key findings include the use of Keitaro for cloaking and traffic distribution in malvertising campaigns, spam operations leveraging Keitaro for cryptocurrency wallet draining, and the abuse of Keitaro in investment scams. The report also highlights specific threat actors and their tactics, such as domain hijacking for adult content delivery and the use of fake arrests as clickbait for investment scams. Overall, the analysis demonstrates how Keitaro's features make it attractive to cybercriminals seeking to maximize their reach with minimal effort.

This analysis delves into the Beast ransomware, a Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) that emerged in June 2024 as a successor to Monster ransomware. The investigation focuses on a Beast ransomware server detected in March 2026, revealing the operators' toolkit and attack methodology. The toolkit includes various tools for reconnaissance, network mapping, credential theft, persistence, lateral movement, exfiltration, and impact. Notable findings include the presence of both Windows and Linux versions of Beast ransomware, indicating targeting of workstations and Linux servers on VMware ESXi hypervisors. The report highlights the importance of proactive collection of internet telemetry in identifying ransomware operators' toolkits before they can be used against targets.

An exposed open directory revealed a comprehensive Roundcube exploitation toolkit used by APT28 to target Ukrainian government entities. The toolkit includes XSS payloads, a Flask-based C2 server, CSS injection tools, and a Go-based implant. It enables credential harvesting, persistent mail forwarding, bulk email exfiltration, address book theft, and 2FA secret extraction. The primary target was identified as mail.dmsu.gov.ua, Ukraine's State Migration Service. Technical analysis shows significant overlaps with previously documented APT28 operations, while introducing new capabilities such as CSS-based side-channel attacks and browser credential theft. The toolkit's modular approach and sophisticated evasion techniques demonstrate APT28's evolving tactics in compromising webmail platforms for long-term intelligence gathering.

Hydra Saiga, a suspected Kazakhstani state-sponsored threat actor, has been actively targeting government, energy, and critical infrastructure in Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East since 2021. The group is known for using Telegram Bot API for C2 communication and employing a mix of custom implants and 'Living off the Land' techniques. Their activities align closely with Kazakhstan's geopolitical interests, particularly in water and energy sectors. The group has compromised at least 34 organizations across 8 countries, with reconnaissance extending to over 200 additional targets globally. Hydra Saiga's operations demonstrate a clear focus on water infrastructure linked to major regional rivers and gas distribution systems, reflecting strategic intelligence collection efforts.

A widespread SMS pumping campaign has been identified, targeting customer sign-up pages. The attackers, designated as O-UNC-036, use disposable email infrastructure and proxy services to launch high-volume, automated attacks against public API endpoints. Their objective is to create numerous accounts and trigger SMS messages to actor-controlled phone numbers, generating significant financial costs for target organizations. The attack pattern involves reconnaissance, infrastructure setup, and high-volume requests using known high-cost phone country codes. The campaign has been active since at least March 2024, affecting multiple tenants and organizations. Recommended protective measures include implementing FIDO Authentication, blocking suspicious domains and ASNs, and enhancing monitoring and response capabilities.
