A fix is available. Users should update FRRouting packages to the fixed versions listed in the Ubuntu security advisory USN-8046-1. Performing a standard system update on affected Ubuntu releases will apply the necessary patches and mitigate the vulnerability.

Description

FRRouting (FRR) versions from 2.0 through 10.4.1 contain a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the ospf_opaque_lsa_dump function. This flaw can be triggered by specially crafted OSPF LSA packets, causing the FRR process to crash and resulting in a denial of service (DoS). The vulnerability affects multiple Ubuntu package versions and has been assigned CVE-2025-61100 with a high severity rating. Fixed versions are available and users are advised to update to these patched releases.
