A fix is available and users should update to the patched versions listed in the Ubuntu security advisory USN-8046-1. Applying standard system updates will address the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond installing the official patches.
Description
FRRouting (frr) versions from 4.0 through 10.4.1 contain a vulnerability due to a NULL pointer dereference in the show_vty_ext_pref_pref_sid function within ospf_ext.c. This flaw allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (DoS) by sending crafted OSPF packets. The issue affects multiple Ubuntu package versions and has been assigned CVE-2025-61106 with a high severity rating. Fixed versions are available and users are advised to update to these patched releases.
