Apply the official patches provided by Ubuntu as detailed in security notice USN-8046-1. Updating to the fixed package versions 8.1-1ubuntu1.14, 8.4.4-1.1ubuntu6.5, 10.4.1-3ubuntu1.1, or 10.5.1-1ubuntu2 will remediate the vulnerability. A standard system update on affected Ubuntu releases will install these fixes. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying these updates.

Description

FRRouting (FRR) versions from 4.0 through 10.4.1 contain a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the show_vty_ext_link_adj_sid function within ospf_ext.c. This flaw allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (DoS) by sending crafted OSPF packets. The issue affects multiple Ubuntu package versions and has been assigned CVE-2025-61102 with a CVSS 3.1 score of 7.5 (high severity). Official patches are available and have been released in Ubuntu package versions 8.1-1ubuntu1.14, 8.4.4-1.1ubuntu6.5, 10.4.1-3ubuntu1.1, and 10.5.1-1ubuntu2.
