CVE-2026-50289: CWE-78: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection') in sebhildebrandt systeminformationCVE-2026-50289
0

CVE-2026-50289 is a high-severity OS command injection vulnerability in the systeminformation library for node.js. Versions prior to 5.31.7 are affected. The vulnerability arises because the networkInterfaces() function on Linux reads and parses /etc/network/interfaces, extracting a source path token that is interpolated unquoted into a shell command executed via execSync. This allows an attacker to inject arbitrary shell commands if they can control the path value. The issue is fixed in version 5.31.7.
